Overall Purpose: We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Senior Manager of Planning and Logistics to join our dynamic team at LENZ as we prepare to commercialize our lead asset. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with experience in launching pharmaceutical products, managing global cold chain logistics, and a deep understanding of trade compliance, demand planning, and supply chain planning models. The ideal candidate will also have experience with implementing supply chain modules on ERP systems such as NetSuite, serialization, 3PL management, and managing relationships with CMO and API suppliers. As all manufacturing and warehousing are outsourced, exceptional coordination and management skills are essential.


Key Responsibilities of the Role:


Strategic Planning:

• Develop and implement comprehensive logistics and supply chain strategies to support the commercial launch of our first drug.

• Forecast demand and plan supply chain activities to ensure product availability and meet market needs.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, regulatory, and manufacturing, to align logistics plans with business objectives through S&OP.


Demand and Supply Planning:

• Develop and manage demand planning and supply chain models to optimize inventory levels and ensure product availability.

• Analyze sales forecasts and market trends to adjust supply chain plans accordingly.

Cold Chain Logistics:

• Oversee the management of cold chain logistics, ensuring the integrity and quality of temperature-sensitive products.

• Develop and maintain protocols for temperature monitoring, transportation, and storage.

• Partner with logistics providers to ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements and industry standards.


Trade Compliance & Serialization:

• Ensure compliance with global trade regulations, including import/export requirements and customs documentation.

• Stay current with changes in trade laws and regulations and implement necessary adjustments to logistics processes.

• Oversee serialization processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Manage data integrity and traceability for all serialized products throughout the supply chain.


Operational and Risk Management:

• Support relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), CMOs, and API suppliers.

• Conduct regular performance reviews with vendors and partners to ensure continuous improvement.

• Ensure efficient and cost-effective logistics operations, optimizing resources and minimizing disruptions.

• Implement and monitor KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

• Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including GMP, GDP, and other relevant standards.

• Manage contingency plans to address unexpected disruptions in the supply chain.


Team Leadership:

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

• Ensure clear communication and collaboration across all levels of the organization.


Qualification Requirements:


Expertise 

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

• Preferred experience in launching pharmaceutical products and managing global cold chain logistics.

• Strong understanding of trade compliance, demand planning, and supply chain planning models.

• Experience with implementing supply chain modules on ERP systems such as NetSuite.

• Knowledge of serialization and trade compliance requirements.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Strong leadership and team management abilities.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.


Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field required.

• Professional certification preferred.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

Typically works in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time, intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Frequent out-of-town travel may be required. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
