The Director Supply Chain North America will be the primary point of supply chain leadership for all ODU’s North America operations (ODU USA Inc, ODU Automotive Inc, ODU NAL and ODU Mexico) and a critical leader within the global supply chain team reporting to the local CEO and Global Director Supply Chain.

In concert with the supply chain organization, this key role will be responsible for providing comprehensive supply chain leadership and support with primary focus on supply chain planning, purchasing and logistics.

This role will work closely with the global supply chain teams, plant operations and other corporate leaders (e.g. sales and finance). This position partners in the establishment and deployment of standard processes, policies and procedures to improve and scale business processes within our supply chain to meet the growing needs of our business. 

This position leads the effort to achieve and maintain alignment in the value chain between the suppliers and/or ODU production subsidiaries and the end customers.

This position will play a vital role to built the „next generation supply chain“ in order to support ODU’s ambitious plans in the North American region and to lift the current supply chain organization to the next level.

Further, this person will develop the skills and leadership ability of the Supply Chain Team through mentoring, technical and business training.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Planning

  • Coordinating all planning activities, including SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) cycle for the location with Sales, Finance and Operations.
  • Managing inventory, obsolescence, purchasing lead times, and production capacities to forecast.
  • Develop consumption forecast / inventory management program to improve current days of inventory and cash cycle.
  • Analyse inventory levels and product demands to determine reorder levels and safety stock that will ensure product availability and minimize inventory cost.
  • Identify and implement systems and process improvements within the supply chain to enable the business to meet or exceed OTD, inventory, cost, and revenue Metrics.
  • Develop and maintain forecast and procurement/production plans based on history and sales opportunities.
  • Driving continuous improvement throughout the function. Implement E2E processes and workflows that maximize efficiency and maintains high levels of customer service.
  • Support activities for new programs for specific customers. Provide logistic concepts and agreements.

Purchasing

  • Develop relationships with key suppliers
  • Identify, evaluate and qualify new suppliers
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers, complete price agreements and implement framework agreements.
  • Ensure supply needs are met of the components.
  • Develop and implement processes and structures in Sourcing & Procurement in accordance with global requirements
  • Lead structured routines of review with Suppliers on appropriate intervals (i.e. Quarterly Business Review process)
  • Collaborating with the global sourcing team to deploy methodologies and strategies that secure targeted quality, delivery and costs
  • Proactively review material supply and demand to determine push/pull actions appropriate to support operations; manage MPS / MRP exception messages.

Logistics and Warehousing

  • Ensures complete and timely flow of production material to the shop floor.
  • Manages freight forwarders for transportation and negotiates rates and contracts with domestic and global carriers (cost effectiveness and quality of service).
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement of cost, lead times and quality of services
  • Manages proper country tariff classification program; responsible for data management and timely updates to reflect tariff changes
  • Develops, prepares and/or improves processes, procedures, and instructions regarding logistics planning and warehousing systems and procedures
  • Maintaining high inventory accuracy, including managing inventory counts.
  • Overseeing incoming and outgoing shipments, distribution of goods.
  • Review and management of damage claims, shipping invoices, and other related documentation.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, plan and implement proper training and certifications for team.
  • Review and optimization of processes, space utilization.

Minimum Requirements
 

  • BS/B.Sc., preferably in Supply Chain, Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years’ progressive Senior Leadership experience at least in one of the above mentioned key responsibilities
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve strategic / operational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment with multiple projects.
  • Subject-matter expertise in ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Business process thinker that drives for continuous improvement of business process
  • Demonstrated, deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to work in a global, matrix organization.
  • Strong analytical, organization, decision making, written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
