Strategic Innovations Consulting LLC is preparing for future staffing needs and is currently seeking talent for the position of Medical Records Specialist. This proactive recruitment effort aims to create a pool of qualified candidates for an upcoming role. The Medical Records Specialist will be essential in managing and maintaining accurate and confidential medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Organize, manage, and maintain patient medical records and documents.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical records by reviewing patient information, medical histories, and treatment plans.
- Protect the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
- Retrieve patient medical records for healthcare providers, technicians, and other medical personnel as requested.
- Process patient admission and discharge documents.
- Assign clinical codes for insurance billing, based on standard classification systems.
- Maintain and operate a variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or obtain additional information.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and data for audits and quality assurance purposes.
- Stay updated with changes in health information management practices and regulations.
**Ideal Candidate:**
- Proven experience as a medical records specialist or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in health information management systems and software.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
- Discretion and confidentiality.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical records management or a related role.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in health information management will be a plus.
- Experience with various health information management tools and platforms is desirable.
- Associate’s degree or completion of a health information management program preferred but not required.
