Job Summary

The Account Executive, Sales is responsible for driving growth in the individual life and disability income insurance product lines by acquiring and nurturing relationships with agents and agencies, with a focus on cross-selling, upselling, and everboarding. This individual combines a results-driven focus with a strong understanding of the sales process, leveraging exceptional communication skills and information in the CRM software effectively, to achieve sales targets.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to identify and engage potential agents and agencies.
  • Possess strong knowledge of individual disability income and individual life insurance products, the competitive marketplace, distribution partners, tools (sales and technology) and overall sales system to develop and foster effective sale relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing agents, fostering trust and loyalty.
  • Educate agents on our product offering, highlighting the benefits of both life insurance and disability insurance.
  • Drive revenue growth by effectively moving prospects & opportunities through the sales funnel and closing deals.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell additional insurance products or riders to existing distribution partners, thereby maximizing revenue and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing support and assistance to distribution partners, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Utilize CRM software to manage leads, track interactions and optimize sales processes.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for expansion and improvement.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to inquiries providing expertise on products, concepts, illustrations, systems or service issues. Conduct effective situation diagnosis and follow through to address issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Act as an advisor to distribution partners and develop meaningful relationships to encourage trust and loyalty, resulting in sales.
  • Stay up to date on industry developments and competitor strategies to maintain a competitive edge.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or related field (preferred). Illinois Mutual approved equivalency for internal applicants.
  • Proven track record of success in sales, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of CRM software and its applications in sales and marketing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a passion for driving growth and achieving targets.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently.
  • Relevant certifications (i.e. Life & Health Insurance License) preferred but not required.
