Director of Business Development

The Director of Business Development will lead strategic initiatives to identify, develop and secure new business opportunities within the containerized and breakbulk cargo segment for the Port of Mobile. This role requires a dynamic and results-driven professional who can build and maintain relationships with clients, ocean carriers, partners and industry leaders. The candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding the market presence at a state, national and international level.
Responsibilities
- Proactively manage a portfolio of accounts to drive volume and revenue growth in alignment with the Port’s business strategy.
- Engage with clients, partners and industry leaders to identify and evaluate new opportunities.
- Lead negotiations and contract discussions with potential clients and partners.
- Conduct industry research and remain current on industry trends.
- Prepare and present quarterly reports and forecasts to the executive team.
- Establish a presence at industry functions, trade shows and networking events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience (7+ years) in business development, sales or a related role within the maritime/logistics industry.
- Knowledge and previous experience in breakbulk, bulk and project cargo is a plus.
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation abilities.
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Ability to travel as required.
