Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as the Vice President of Operations at Cal-a-Vie Health Spa in Northern San Diego, CA. The VP Operations is responsible for leading and managing all operational aspects of the spa to ensure exceptional service delivery and operational efficiency. This role involves overseeing daily operations, implementing strategic initiatives, and optimizing processes to enhance guest experiences and achieve organizational goals. The VP of Operations will work closely with senior leadership to drive business growth, ensure the seamless integration of wellness programs, and uphold the high standards of Cal-a-Vie Health Spa.


Key Responsibilities

The Vice President of Operations will develop and communicate the strategic direction for the organization’s operations division, collaborating with executive leadership to set and achieve company goals while providing expertise on operations projects and systems. This role involves working with various departments to align and achieve organizational objectives, identifying and implementing new processes, technologies, and systems to enhance efficiency and resource utilization. The VP will ensure that departmental decisions and project plans, including staffing, development, and material efficiency, are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision. Additionally, they will develop, communicate, and enforce operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures for consistent support.

The role includes reviewing and approving cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing plans for projects, while fostering a hospitality culture that delivers exceptional customer service and proposing innovative solutions for operational and team engagement improvements. The VP will present performance reports and metrics to property owners, regularly evaluate operational quality with owners, and assist in developing strategies for enhancement. They will oversee the execution of operations by leveraging centralized resources such as accounting, finance, and HR, ensuring legal compliance across properties in coordination with legal counsel. Staying informed about emerging technologies and trends in operations management, the VP will identify training needs and ensure proper training development and delivery. Responsibilities also include managing wine production and sales, overseeing vineyard maintenance, controlling related expenses, conducting property tours, and managing property construction projects in collaboration with general contractors and owners. The VP will also perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management preferred.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with sales and marketing, food and beverage operations, spa management, and golf country club operations. Strong understanding of guest relations, budgeting, and revenue management. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience: At least five years of experience in a senior management role such as General Manager, Resort Manager, or Hotel Manager at a leading luxury resort or hotel.
  • Skills/Abilities: Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word. Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and discretion in handling confidential matters. Team-oriented with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels. Capable of quickly resolving problems and conflicts, and thriving in a high-stress environment by converting challenges into positive outcomes.
  • Availability: Flexible to work weekdays, weekends, nights, and/or holidays as required.
