With a current team of 36 employees, we are on a growth trajectory of growing our team to 40 by the end of 2024, 50 by end of 2025 and scale to 80-100 over the next 5+ years. 


JOB SUMMARY: 

As the first VP of People for Serenity Kids, this strategic and hands-on person will shape our organization’s success through their expertise building and scaling a highly effective HR function. They will lead and implement initiatives to build people and organizational capabilities to support company growth, nurture a positive and inclusive work environment and build on our strong company culture. They will also be responsible for building an exceptional talent and culture-focused human resources function within the organization, including but not limited to: talent acquisition, orientation and onboarding, employee engagement and retention, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, policies and procedures, and employee relations. This position will be an integral member of the Senior Executive Team and contribute to company-wide planning and decision making. They will supervise the Culture Coordinator, who currently leads an elaborate set of cultural initiatives, the Office Coordinator, and determine additional resources needed.

They have a passion and proven track record building and managing an HR function to scale a business, with 10+ years of progressive experience in HR roles. They are strategic, organized and detail-oriented, capable of designing and managing processes to support company growth while strengthening our core values and culture. With exceptional ability to collaborate, connect and influence others with warmth and positive optimism, they foster an inclusive and positive work environment and coach employees to reach their full potential. They are a goal-oriented, big picture thinker and hands-on implementer yet can also effectively delegate. 


JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in HR roles, with knowledge and expertise across all aspects of the HR function
  • Experience building and scaling a highly effective HR function in a company size similar to Serenity Kids (currently 40 employees with growth up to 100+ over 5 years)
  • Knowledge of HR practices, federal, state and local employment laws and regulations; Texas specific knowledge highly preferred; multi-state knowledge is a plus 
  • HR education or certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is a plus 
  • Relevant industry experience in product-centric, consumer goods, multi-channel organization is a plus 
  • Experience managing external vendors and consultants 
  • Experience with HRIS or HRMS (experience with Rippling is a plus)

Based on this position and the requirements above, we are offering a yearly salary of $175k - $200k base compensation, relocation assistance, bonus potential and equity.
