Summary

To continue to strengthen its base and support its growth in the US, Midea KWHA is extending its Research and Innovation capabilities. To lead this effort, Midea’s Appliance Division (KWHA) has opened a new position for a Water Softener Product Expert.

The Water Softener Product Engineering Expert will be responsible for supporting the development and strategic direction of the following products lines:

  • Point of use water softener systems
  • Whole house water softener and water quality systems


The Water Softener Product Engineering Expert is a key member of the R&D Team in the US, helping drive breakthroughs in product designs, functionality as well as evaluating product quality and field failures. The Water Softener Product Engineering Expert will collaboratively work with other team members to design unique solutions to progress innovative designs. In addition, the Water Softener Product Engineering Expert will conduct independent projects related to product development and quality improvement. Up to 25% of domestic and international travel will be required.


Job Responsibilities

  • Understand the latest trends and technological trends in the international soft water industry.
  • Maintain a knowledge of marketplace and product trends, particularly regarding control systems.
  • Guide an international team to develop products specifically for the US market.
  • Test and evaluate competitor products to determining strengths and weaknesses and compare relative performance.
  • Conduct performance and reliability tests, analyze results, and produce detailed test reports.
  • Prepare and submit samples to third-party certification agencies.
  • Generate new product & feature ideas and develop into working prototypes.
  • Utilize SolidWorks/Creo to design new components and assemblies and to improve existing designs.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis of any field returned components and utilize FRACAS methodology to drive quality and usability improvements.
  • Assist in the preparation of service manuals, technical service bulletins, and trouble-shooting diagrams.
  • Collaborate with experts in China to maximize impact of projects.


Job Requirements

  • 5-10 years’ experience in technology, home appliance, CE, Ecommerce, or related industry.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of multiple platforms, such as whole house filtration systems and point of use filtration systems, as well as various types of softening media.
  • Water softener product design experience for point of use and whole house applications, including extensive experience with salt-based water softener control valves.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software (PTC-Creo, Solidworks).
  • Knowledge of water softener requirements and regulations in North America.
  • Experience with testing and evaluating prototype water purification products.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute complex projects.
  • Domestic and international experience and a multi-cultural mindset.
  • Excellent communication, motivation, and coordination skills.
  • Goal oriented and self-managed personality with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong problem solving and risk management skills.


Desirable Skills/Knowledge

  • Master’s Degree in a related engineering field.
  • Experience with water heater testing.
  • Experience utilizing simulation tools to design and optimize water filtration designs.
