Role Responsibilities
As a Product Development Engineer, your contributions will be essential in supporting our manufacturing operations. Your daily tasks will include:
- Analyzing warranty claims data and categorizing them appropriately.
- Collaborating with dealerships to gather insights on parts and repair diagnostics.
- Participating in customer feedback initiatives to ensure clarity and understanding.
- Conducting root cause analyses on returned parts and developing both interim and permanent corrective actions.
In this role, you will:
- Assist assembly plants with quality-related tasks such as Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, and Audits.
- Lead engineering changes for minor product launches and implement cost-saving measures for current production models.
- Work closely with the Variability Reduction Team (VRT) and supplier partners to address quality issues in specific subsystems.
- Oversee engineering trials and implement changes for subsystem improvements.
- Engage with technical experts to drive resolutions and develop corrective actions that enhance product quality.
- Maintain and update quality documentation at the subsystem or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level.
- Present findings and updates to upper management during various reviews.
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in an automotive manufacturing setting.
- Six Sigma Training (Black Belt or Green Belt Certification).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and support rapid decision-making.
- Familiarity with CAD systems.
- Some experience in electrical systems.
