Position Overview

We're seeking a skilled Light Sheet Field Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As a key member of our commercial light sheet manufacturing company, you'll be at the forefront of building and implementing cutting-edge light sheet imaging systems for top-tier scientific institutions across the United States.


The Light Sheet Field Engineer will be responsible for building, and maintaining light sheet imaging systems, working closely with researchers and institutions to ensure optimal performance and integration of our technology. This is a customer facing role requiring skills in both imaging and familiarity with optical system construction. You'll work alongside top-tier researchers in fields including bioengineering, cancer, developmental biology, regenerative medicine and neurobiology, operating state-of-the-art imaging systems generating terabytes of beautiful 3D biological images and data that makes a difference. You will be based out of our office in Cambridge, right on the Central Square Red Line stop, one stop away from both Harvard and MIT.


Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and be capable of demonstrating light sheet imaging systems for commercial sale. Install and optimize systems at client sites.  Provide technical support and training to researchers. Collaborate with R&D team to improve existing systems and develop new solutions.  Travel to top-tier scientific institutions to work with researchers. 50% out of state travel possible.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in optical, optomechanical engineering or related disciplines, or biological sciences (master’s degrees preferred). Experience in optical imaging systems and/or design. Experience with photonics and optical light path construction.  Comfortable working with lasers and optoelectronics for biological imaging.  Strong communication skills. Willingness to learn new methods and techniques. Ability to travel extensively.


We're looking for a versatile professional with hands-on experience in designing or setting up optical microscope systems and imaging in biological samples, typically using tissue clearing techniques and refractive index matching. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, eager to learn, and comfortable wearing different hats in a dynamic work environment.  Comprehensive health benefits and 401k in addition to salary.
