Refrigeration Field Service Engineer - Permanent - Cambridge MA

Proclinical is seeking a dedicated Refrigeration Field Service Engineer to join an experienced team.


Primary Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will focus on the installation, repair, and maintenance of refrigeration systems, providing remote support and training to customers. This position requires travel across the US and occasionally internationally, with a focus on ensuring customer satisfaction and system efficiency.


***Must have an EPA 608 Certification****


Skills & Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree, technical certificate, or equivalent preferred.
  • Hands-on experience or military technical training in commercial/industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Refrigerant handling qualification (EPA) required.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a structured approach to identifying and resolving issues independently.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make decisions based on business needs.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, reliable transportation, ability to obtain a credit card for expenses, and a valid passport.
  • Ability to meet background screening requirements by a third-party agency.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolding, and use Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Capable of working in awkward positions and confined spaces.
  • Proficient with PC usage, Windows®, and DOS® operating systems. Experience with Oracle is beneficial but not required.
  • Proficient in using company software for reports, presentations, and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration controls, including PLCs; experience with Saia PLC control systems is desirable but not required.

The Refrigeration Field Service Engineer's responsibilities will be:

  • Install and maintain equipment.
  • Identify parts and place orders through the ERP system.
  • Provide initial refrigeration remote support to helpdesk and customers.
  • Interface with customers to ensure satisfaction with equipment and services.
  • Train customers on proper system usage.
  • Obtain Equipment Service and Operation Certification as required.
  • Submit and maintain service reports and status reports for all support activities.
  • Record work completed in the ERP system and communicate results to customers.
  • Report service and customer issues to Service Coordinators.
  • Follow up on open issues and work towards customer solutions.
  • Adhere to Service Coordinator's directions for responding to customer issues.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, conforming to company and customer protocols and policies.
  • Communicate suggestions for improvements in quality, service ease, and efficiency to the Engineering department.
  • Evaluate refrigeration system performance, gather relevant data, and share insights with the team.
  • Travel to customer sites across the US and occasionally internationally, with total travel up to 70%.
  • React productively to changing priorities and support organizational and administrative duties.
