We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in purchasing and procurement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role is crucial in ensuring that our construction projects have the necessary materials and supplies on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Purchasing Strategies: Formulate and execute purchasing strategies that align with company goals and project requirements.
  • Order Management: Review and process purchase orders, maintaining accurate records of goods ordered and received.
  • Vendor Negotiation and Management: Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers, build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, and select prospective vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price.
  • Delivery Coordination: Schedule deliveries and ensure the timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Research and evaluate vendors to compare pricing and services, ensuring the best value for the company.
  • Inventory Coordination: Coordinate with project managers to monitor inventory levels and determine supply needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of procured items and address any issues that arise.
  • Industry Trends: Stay current with trends in procurement and purchasing technology, overseeing the implementation of new systems as needed.
  • Vendor Visits: Travel to vendor locations as necessary to build relationships and assess capabilities.

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Required. A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a Purchasing Agent or Clerk, with a proven track record in procurement.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience using procurement software and databases is essential.
  • Excel Skills: Proficiency in Excel, including v-lookup, pivot tables, and formulas.

  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with vendors and team members.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Research and Analytical Skills: Strong research capabilities and the ability to analyze data to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in processing orders and managing inventory.
