Compensation: $32 - $35/hour


Our client, a Chicago-based consultant working with educational nonprofits, is seeking a Program Coordinator to implement a new grant-based mentorship program for aspiring young students in the medical field. The ideal candidate will embrace flexibility, working within a new and developing structure with this organization.


Program Implementation and Coordination:

  • Coordinate the pairing of collegiate student-athletes with middle school teams/departments
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and partners
  • Schedule regular mentorship meetings based on availability
  • Develop and distribute meeting agendas and materials, focusing on topics such as evidence-based study strategies, stress management, self-advocacy, and navigating adversity

Mentor and Mentee Support:

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to both mentors and mentees
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions for mentors, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to effectively support their mentees
  • Monitor the progress and engagement of mentees, addressing any issues or concerns that arise

Program Development and Improvement:

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to continually assess and improve the program curriculum and materials
  • Gather and analyze feedback from participants to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement new initiatives to enhance the program’s impact and reach

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Track and document attendance and participation of mentors and mentees in all program activities
  • Prepare regular reports on program progress, outcomes, and areas for improvement for the Program Director and other stakeholders

Community and Partnership Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with middle schools, athletic departments, and other community partners
  • Promote the program within the community to recruit new participants and increase program visibility
  • Coordinate events and activities that engage the wider community and showcase program successes


CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of project coordination or project management experience
  • Must have access to a vehicle for regular Chicago-area school visits
  • Nonprofit experience a plus
  • Proficiency with calendar management, Excel, and other coordinating tools
  • Ability to remain flexible, working within a constantly evolving structure where needs will regularly change
  • Strong communication skills, paired with the ability to effectively convey deadlines, tasks, and project needs to a varied pool of stakeholders
  • Experience with grants administration or grant writing a plus
