The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (www.aiaa.org) in Reston, VA, seeks a Marketing Manager to work as a part of our Revenue Development, Marketing & Communications team to develop and execute internal and external marketing strategies that leverage market research and historical data to support the success of AIAA.
Reporting to the Director, Marketing, you will assist with managing and implementing annual marketing plans for AIAA membership, products and programs, including AIAA Foundation, K–12, region and section activities, forums, and public policy. In this role, you will have full accountability for the development, proofing, and fulfillment processes of collateral with graphic design, print production, and project managers; as well as develop regular analytics reports, and use data to improve success of assigned projects.
AIAA has a Flexible Workplace, where staff work primarily remote, but are required to attend meetings in the office and collaborate in person as needed. Candidates must reside in the Washington, DC, metro area.
Accountability:
- Develop and execute marketing plans, promotion schedules, and program budgets
- Conduct competitive research that informs the positioning of AIAA products and programs
- Work closely with team members and content providers to promote the AIAA brand and improve the integration of AIAA’s marketing and communications efforts across assigned projects
- Craft compelling and grammatically accurate promotional copy
- Ensure Institute messaging and branding are used consistently in marketing messaging
- Create queries, lists, and reports through the Institute’s association management system and Hubspot
Position Dimensions:
- Produce all work consistent with AIAA branding and style guide
- Ensure projects achieve the desired results and are completed in a timely manner and within budget
- Work with multiple cross-functional teams (i.e. Design, Communications, IT, etc.) to assist with project and budget management
- Minimal travel required.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Requirements/Qualifications:
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in marketing events, products, programs and/or association membership
- Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- High proficiency with project management, marketing implementation, market research, and promotional copywriting
- Ability to quickly learn new software, systems, and processes
- Experience with email marketing systems (Hubspot experience a plus)
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Have a naturally positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to be self-reliant
Additional Skills:
- Google Tag Manager, Analytics, AdWords and Content Management Systems (CMS) experience preferred
- Previous association or non-profit experience preferred
- Good listener with ability to accept and apply constructive feedback
