Titan Virginia Ready Mix has an excellent opportunity for a Quality Control Supervisor in its Northern Virginia region located in Richmond, VA. This salaried non-exempt position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager. The primary function of this position is to ensure high quality ready-mix product, provide industry related technical assessments, and lead the region’s quality organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the region’s technicians and laboratories, maintaining all appropriate certifications for plants and department personnel
  • Review specifications and create and optimize concrete design mixes, ensuring consistency throughout the region in mix design, submittal, and performance monitoring procedures
  • Perform and observe sample testing and monitoring of our concrete production and procedures for the region, performing comparative testing with independent testing agencies
  • Sample, test, and monitor raw materials for compliance of applicable specifications
  • Communicate with customers, testing laboratories, dispatch, and production employees regarding mix utilization and admixture dosage rates
  • Perform all pertinent ASTM, ACI, and DOT testing procedures and evaluations
  • Perform plant inspections and recommend corrective action to ensure compliance with project specifications, VDOT, Federal specifications and Titan America’s QA guidelines
  • Perform visual inspection assessments of jobsite conditions, solutions, and recommendations to correct problems if they occur
  • Monitor test report data and plant records for specification compliance in accordance with project, Federal and State specifications
  • Provide input relating to testing programs and concrete mix designs with QC Manager
  • Support Sales and Production departments in resolving quality-based customer queries and complaints
  • Participate in the analysis of customer claims and support the investigation of the causes linked to process or production conditions



Qualifications and Experience:

  • VDOT Plant, ACI Field Testing, Aggregate, and Lab Technician Certifications preferred or able to obtain within six months
  • Previous management/supervisory experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in laboratory testing of concrete and trial batch procedures
  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications as well as knowledge of ready mix manufacturing design, processes, equipment, and basic knowledge of design and control of concrete mixes
  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and apply abstract and concrete variables
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be computer literate in Windows, Excel, Adobe, and MS Office, knowledge of other software programs and computer functionality a plus
  • Excellent data entry skills and ability to multi-task under pressure

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Working outdoors with exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold and other outdoor environmental conditions, constant standing and walking, climbing, working from heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and overtime
  • Job requires the following motions: climbing, stretching, driving/steering, sitting, twisting, vibration, riding on rough terrain, and exposure to extremes of heat or cold weather
  • Ability to pass pre-employment processes including criminal background check, physical, and drug screen
  • Expected to travel within the state to visit customer locations and provide technical assistance and maintain positive working relationships
