Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
  • Accountable for the safety performance throughout all operating facilities; Drive a safety-first culture and environment with the goal of achieving an injury free workplace.
  • Deliver operational excellence across all sites with a focus on improvement of safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics/KPI s through the successful development and deployment of a Lean Six Sigma production management system
  • Ensure the Lean Six Sigma methodology positively impacts associates on the shop floor by engaging them to detect and solve problems, improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes and remove waste from the operations
  • Determine current and future operational opportunities that can provide short- and long-term growth
  • Responsible for the establishment, maintenance and monitoring of annual budgets associated with each Operations area
  • Assess, plan, recommend and implement approved capital expenditure projects that deliver ROI and improve output
  • Collaborate with Sales and Supply Chain areas to ensure the process effectively integrates the demand and supply areas of the business
  • Ensure all associates are adequately trained, developed, supervised and have the necessary standard work instructions to perform their roles
  • Identify and grow top talent across all areas to ensure retention and development of top talent and proper succession planning
  • Maintain open, honest and transparent communication with associates at all levels through regularly scheduled area meetings, one-on-one meetings with direct reports, skip-level meetings and various other effective communication methods
  • Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization’s operations division.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
  • Collaborates with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision.
  • Review/Address all quality issues, if necessary metallurgical testing to confirm concerns by customer and/or potential usage of steel.
  • Manage day to day Maintenance issues, parts, supplies to make sure plant is running efficiently and safe and producing quality product
  • Manage maintenance budget with executive team to minimize cost of doing business within the plant
  • Establish/Direct plant policies, procedures, and daily operations
  • Train and develop team members to maximize production, foster a positive worker & working environment, conduct employee performance reviews, evaluate employee compensation, and corrective action.
  • Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages the Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Transportation, Planning and Engineering departments of two facilities within the organization.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and disciplining employee.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry-related field required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of industry-related experience including five years executive management required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of multi-site leadership, preferred
