The Director of Operations at Fagron Sterile Services is essential in overseeing various operational domains within the organization. This role encompasses responsibilities such as pharmaceutical and supply repackaging, warehouse management—including receiving, storage, inventory oversight, and distribution—and maintenance across multiple facilities. The Director is accountable for aligning production schedules with the operational plan and available capacity while ensuring exceptional service and quality in distribution to clients. Furthermore, this position collaborates with Quality Assurance and Regulatory teams to introduce new processes, integrate new equipment, launch new products, and address production discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the performance of assigned teams to meet operational excellence and performance targets across production, warehousing, distribution, and facility upkeep.
- Compile and analyze reports related to scheduling, production targets, equipment issues, and other necessary studies.
- Collaborate with departmental management to synchronize production schedules to meet deadlines and budgetary constraints.
- Enhance employee development through orientation, training, and clear communication of objectives and policies, fostering a positive work environment.
- Assess staff performance and compliance, making necessary adjustments to achieve desired results while maintaining accurate performance records.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, cGMP standards, safety regulations, and effective housekeeping practices.
- Continuously monitor project progress to guarantee timely completion with the required quality standards.
- Provide guidance to department management on daily operations and suggest improvements as necessary.
- Ensure that resources for repackaging and distribution are adequately available, including equipment, supplies, and personnel.
- Participate in the development of production, distribution, and corporate objectives while achieving cost and quality benchmarks.
- Support the growth of direct reports through coaching, feedback, and the establishment of relevant objectives, while promoting employee morale and work-life balance.
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of production equipment and facilities.
- Proactively address any delays to maintain adherence to production and shipping timelines.
- Evaluate personal performance and set standards for future objectives.
- Direct and uphold the strategic initiatives of the production department for both short- and long-term goals.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, logistics, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Over 10 years of relevant experience, ideally within the pharmaceutical, therapeutics, or other highly regulated manufacturing sectors.
- Proven leadership capabilities with at least 7 years in management or leadership roles.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be on call during off-hours.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative mindset with a proven ability to work effectively in teams.
- Robust understanding of cGMP regulations and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in start-up environments is advantageous.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, complemented by strong presentation abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in business matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Microsoft D365 and Master Control is a plus.
- Commitment to compliance with health, safety, and quality management standards.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work, capable of performing independently.
