About the role.
We are looking for a experienced Legal specialist. You are the local legal expert for all things in North America.
As a member of the legal team, this position will be responsible for the day-to-day legal compliance for all business matters in North America. This role requires a strategic mindset, excellent legal expertise, and the ability to navigate complex business environments.
This position will be the key contact point for all legal matters in North America. This position will directly report to China General Counsel.
Responsibility:
1. To provide daily legal support to online and offline operations of all legal matters in North America, include but not limited to contract review, inquiries, consumer disputes, and legal research for related compliance requirements, as well as legal memo drafting to support business initiatives. With a focus on compliance and risk management at critical business.
2. To provide legal advice on the company's product internationalization efforts, identifying, prevent and respond to legal and compliance risks.
3. Draft, review a wide variety of contracts, business initiatives and projects, and provide risk analysis & feasible risk mitigation plan. Develop and update various types of contracts templates, initiate compliance projects such as on-line mall compliance.
4. Handle negotiations for partnerships related to regional marketing activities, review advertising materials, and respond to negative public opinion.
5. Follow up on after-sales disputes, participate in investigations and negotiations as required.
6. Strategically develop and maintain external legal resources, such as engaging high-quality cooperating lawyers and law firms.
Essential skills:
1. Law degree from a reputable law school in the responsible region is required, with solid legal theoretical knowledge and understanding of legal matters that may arise throughout the product lifecycle and company operations, including but not limited to advertising, public relations, sales, after-sales service, logistics, customs, and labor laws.
2. Proficient English speaking, reading & writing skills is a must, communicating in Chinese is a plus.
3. 3 to 5 years of foreign-related or North American legal work experience, familiar with the laws and regulations of the region in charge, especially cross-border e-commerce related laws and regulations. In-house experience with a consumer-goods company is preferred.
4. Strong logical thinking and communication skills, with a strong learning ability, initiative, responsibility, and a good team player.
5. Ability to work abroad long-term or reside in the responsible region.
