- Manage crew performance and adherence to operational best practices.
- Provide detailed analysis of vessel and crew performance, optimization opportunities, and manage budgeting.
- Develop appropriate vessel maintenance planning, including acting as the first line of defense in assessing planned and unplanned maintenance events, and execution to ensure minimal downtime of vessels.
- Advise on landing sites and route planning.

- Conduct vessel due diligence, including physical inspections and reviewing vessel history and maintenance records.
- Negotiate with vessel owners, brokers, and legal representatives as needed and coordinate the end-to-end acquisition process.
- Oversee necessary modifications, certifications, berthing, and crewing to ensure the seamless integration of acquired vessels into the USCS fleet.
Zero-Emission Vessels:
- Develop and continuously seek out a deep understanding of clean-powered maritime vessel innovations, functionality, operation, maintenance, and certification, including for electric vessels.
- Learn and implement best practices for the operation, maintenance, repair, and compliance of electric vessels.
- Serve as a representative of USCS throughout the design, build, and certification of zero-emission vessels based on learnings from the above.
- Facilitate the integration of electric vessels into the company fleet and train crew members on the unique aspects of operating and maintaining such vessels.
Communication and Reporting:
- Maintain close communication with USCS management, providing regular status and progress updates.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years maritime experience, with familiarity of USCG regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree (7+ years of experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree).
- Current USCG 100-Ton Master License.
- Previous experience working within a small but agile team and influencing outcomes.
- Comprehensive understanding of New York Harbor, including navigable routes, waterfront facilities, regulations, and operational logistics essential for vessel and cargo management.
- Technical understanding of diesel-powered vessels, including their propulsion systems, and the ability to perform basic system diagnostics and hands-on maintenance or repair.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with proven analytical skills, including attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with ability to successfully manage multiple projects, workstreams, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on a self-directed basis, while effectively leading teams.
- Ability to travel to landing sites, berthing locations, shipyards, surveys, etc.
- Ability to be in-office (Midtown East) when not offsite for vessel-related tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mechanical/electrical engineering background with knowledge of electrical systems.
- Experience and/or expertise with clean-powered vessels, including electric and hybrid vessels.
