Siegwerk is a global market-leading chemical manufacturer, specializing in the production of printing Inks and Coatings for the Packaging Industry. We are looking for a strong sales person to support and grow our Midwest Region.


Job Summary


Siegwerk is seeking a strong sales candidate to join our organization as the point person for customer accounts in the Midwest. The goal of the position is to directly improve throughput by implementing strategic selling processes in a manner that results in an efficient & successful sales process.


Job Responsibilities


  • Acts as point person for local customer accounts.
  • Coordinates the needs of the account by providing service or acquiring the resources to meet the account needs.
  • Conducts need analyses through discussions, observations, and other means within existing local customer sites.
  • Provides clear, accurate and complete information, outlining potential sales opportunities to the sales support team and provides input to National Sales Director& VP of Sales & Marketing, regarding placement of sales opportunities into the “funnel.”
  • Applies strategic selling tactics: assesses buying influences (e.g. economic, technical, user, coach, and their degree of influence.
  • Works through or manages the concerns/issues of buying influences, such that the sales “window of opportunity” remains open to Siegwerk Ink.
  • Organizes and conducts product trials at customers’ plants. Develops and strengthens customer relationships between Siegwerk and customers.


The following responsibilities will be added after 6 months:

  • Stays informed on current market trends and proposes new business ideas to enhance revenue.
  • Create compelling presentations tailored to industry specific audiences. Research industry trends, analyze market data, and craft informative presentations that showcase the organization’s products, services, or solutions. These presentations are delivered at conferences, trade shows, client meetings, and other industry events. Effective communication skills and a deep understanding of the industry landscape are essential for success in this aspect of the role.
  • Collaborate with Siegwerk team and customers to create contracts. Ensure that contract terms align with the organization’s goals while protecting both parties’ interests.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience


Bachelor’s Degree Required with a minimum of 2 year sales related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical experience within the printing industry is preferred.

Candidates with prior experience selling ink to flexible packaging converters will not be required to have a Bachelor’s Degree.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must possess the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  • Ability to influence and persuade through effective use of language and oral presentations.
  • Ability to respond to questions from groups of organization employees, organization management and customers.
  • Ability to develop, maintain and strengthen effective, customer relationships.
  • Basic working knowledge of flexographic printing press operation Flexo or Roto to include: (a) printing station configuration and mechanical function of each component; (b) ability to recognize basic printing problems; (c) understands basic printing terminology.
  • Basic understanding of press side fluid ink handling to include: (a) viscosity importance and measuring tools; (b) water and solvent base mechanical handling; (c) comprehension of basic chemistry differences between water base and solvent base ink systems.
  • Basic understanding of major substrates and their basic end use to include different types of paper, polyethylene, polyesters and their marketing end use.
  • Understand color and color theory.
