Job Summary: The Steel Fabrication Estimator is responsible for analyzing project requirements, estimating costs, preparing quotes, and ensuring that projects are completed within budget and schedule. This role involves working closely with the manufacturing team, reviewing specifications, calculating supplies, and coordinating with purchasing for pricing and availability of materials. The Estimator must maintain accurate records, adhere to safety standards, and contribute to the overall efficiency and profitability of the fabrication process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans and requirements to understand scope
- Analyze projects to estimate costs accurately
- Calculate supplies needed for fabrication projects
- Work with purchasing to determine material pricing and availability
- Prepare quotes for projects, including subcontract work if necessary
- Maintain and update quoting standards
- Collaborate with team members to develop plans and procedures
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
- Identify hazards, defects, and areas needing adjustment for compliance
- Coordinate with contractors/suppliers as required
- Attend meetings
Qualifications:
- Education: Relevant qualifications in engineering or related field
- Experience: Miscellaneous Metals experience/ 2+ years of estimator experience
- Skills: Proficiency in tools like Aspen Capital Cost Estimator and MS Excel
- Attributes: Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, good communication skills
