Property Accountant

Position Summary:

The Property Accountant is responsible for managing financial records and ensuring accuracy in reporting for the company's property portfolio. This role works closely with the VP of Accounting, other accounting staff, asset management, and the operations team to support financial decision-making and maintain internal controls.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare balance sheet account analysis and account reconciliations.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts.
  • Generate monthly financial reports and prepare supporting schedules.
  • Review financial statements for accuracy and prepare month-end closing reports; analyze variances.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Conduct month-end closing processes.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of internal controls.
  • Complete special projects and duties as needed.


Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in accrual accounting.
  • Ability to conduct financial analysis and research.
  • Understanding of theories, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, finance, and financial record keeping.
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify problems, and recommend solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with proficiency in composing and proofing materials.
  • Efficient in time management with the ability to work independently.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
