Summary

We are seeking a Property Accountant in our Philadelphia Headquarters to perform accounting activities for our wholly owned properties.

Responsibilities

  • Review Lease Administrations lease profile for each lease and ensuring accuracy in the areas of rent billings, late fees, lease options, security deposits and lease incentives.
  • Review and process daily cash receipts batches.
  • Provide support to the Accounts Receivable team with collection of tenants past due accounts.
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers to resolve issues.
  • Assist team with the following:
    • Month-end general ledger review
    • Preparation of month-end correcting journal entries
    • Generations of month-end accrual journal entries
    • Updating monthly property accounting workpapers for balance sheet accounts such as prepaid taxes, prepaid R&M, unbilled receivables and accrued expenses.
  • Ad hoc reports when requested.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S) in accounting from an accredited college or university;
  • 0-3 years relevant experience; real estate accounting experience preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Excel, Word and familiarity with general ledger software packages required. MRI experience a plus.
  • Experience in a multi-site environment, publicly traded company, and REIT industry a plus.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills required.

Individual should possess strong aptitude for basic accounting principles, good reasoning skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a high volume, corporate environment

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate and figure amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
