Human Resources Specialist

A commercial construction contractor headquartered in Kensington, Maryland, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Bilingual Human Resources Specialist to join their team. As an HR Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the company's HR initiatives and programs. You will work closely with the HR team and other departments to ensure smooth HR operations.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide day-to-day HR support, including managing employee files, handling HR inquiries, and assisting with HR projects
- Assist with the recruitment and hiring process, including posting and monitoring open positions
- Onboard new hires, ensuring they receive the necessary information and training to successfully start their new role; maintaining records regarding same
- Assisting new hires with equipment and software to perform their job functions
- Assisting with required badging and background check process for construction projects
- Assist with Company’s Fleet management
- Assist HR manager in consistent application of employment policies
- Assist with employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Assist with performance management processes, including performance evaluations and disciplinary actions
- Maintain documents and databases, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate
- Provide support for HR compliance and legal issues, including advising on HR policies and procedures
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Previous experience in HR or related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Fluent in English and Spanish
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Ability to consistently be at the office (Kensington, MD) in-person 5 days a week from 8am-4pm
