Objective of the Role:

Oversee and manage all activities related to the integrated management system (IMS) at the production facility, ensuring that products meet both internal and external quality and regulatory standards. Collaborate closely with the Plant Manager on quality communications with customers, while fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the plant.


Key Duties:


Quality Management System

  • Ensure full compliance with relevant quality management standards (e.g., ISO 9001, FSSC 22000).
  • Act as the lead for the HACCP program (if applicable) and support other risk assessments, including change management.
  • Lead preparation for and successful completion of both internal and external audits related to quality and/or food safety.
  • Regularly report on quality and food safety metrics in accordance with corporate procedures at both the local and regional levels.


Quality Control

  • Ensure that all products and packaging adhere to regulatory, internal, and customer specifications, maintaining up-to-date access to customer specifications.
  • Manage the issuance of required customer compliance documentation, such as Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and regulatory statements.
  • Oversee the plant’s quality control program, including product testing, data integrity, and rework processes.
  • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of quality test equipment, both internally and externally.
  • Assist with the qualification and verification processes for new products and equipment.
  • Standardize and optimize quality documentation, ensuring alignment with standard document control practices.
  • Handle supplier quality issues according to established procedures, supporting the logistics team in resolving complaints.


Customer Relations

  • Act as the main point of contact for quality and regulatory matters with customers, hosting periodic visits and managing customer complaints.
  • Oversee the root cause analysis (RCA) process, ensuring proper documentation in global/regional/local systems and supporting RCA training for other departments.


Laboratory Management

  • Ensure that all personnel involved in quality testing, whether in the lab or on the production floor, are fully trained and qualified.
  • Lead the quality team through regular meetings, recruitment, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, and ongoing training.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with physical lab testing equipment (e.g., calipers, scales, digital height gauges) and preferably with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, with a proven record of success as a QA Manager in a manufacturing environment.


Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Excel, SPC software, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of statistics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
