ROLE DESCRIPTION

Cugene is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented research associate to join our purification group in support of multiple research projects. The successful candidate will independently carry out protein purification and characterization, culture and transiently transfect mammalian cells, and communicate the outcome with other colleagues. Additionally, the candidate will be in charge of keeping inventory of critical reagents.

There is also the opportunity to learn and implement biochemical and/or biophysical assays. The candidate will work in close collaboration with the protein engineering and immunology teams, and plan and prioritize purification activities accordingly. The position will provide the opportunity to make visible contributions to a variety of projects and requires a self-driven person with a “can-do” attitude.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or MS degree in Biochemistry or related discipline
  • Demonstration of accountability, ability for multi-tasking and attention to detail, and quick adaptation to changes are required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are also critical


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong understanding of protein purification principles and capable of independently executing protein purification using affinity chromatography and AKTA systems
  • Skilled with protein analysis and characterization including SDS-PAGE and HPLC
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and transient transfection, as well as aseptic technique
