Job Title: Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate, AAV gene therapy (Contract position)
Location:- Waltham, MA
Duration:- 12 months
Description:
- The Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate will join the ocular team at client Genomic Medicine Unit to provide bench-facing expertise in support of gene therapy programs for ophthalmology indications. The successful candidate will
- Execute high throughput automated histology protocols (IHC, ISH) on animal and human tissues
- Handle and isolate RNA/DNA/protein from rodent and mammalian tissues
- Design and execute common cell and molecular biology and biochemical assays
- Maintain and experimentally manipulate transgenic mammalian cell lines
- Independently execute experiments from detailed protocols and analysis of raw data
- Rigorously document experimental efforts, raw and analyzed data
- Clearly communicate results and activities with supervisor and colleagues
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in molecular or cellular biology or related field with 4+ years industry experience or master’s degree with 2+ years industry experience (lab work experience absolutely required)
- Significant expertise with mammalian cell culture including sterile technique, line maintenance, transfections
- Significant expertise with DNA and RNA isolation from cells and mammalian tissues, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, luminescence-based assays, PCR, ELISA/Western blot
- An enthusiastic and fast learner who pays close attention to detail
- A team player who communicates effectively and can work independently to meet timelines
- Experience with high-throughput workflows and automated workflows a plus
Top required skills:-
- Must haves - 2-3 yrs cell culture lab based 100%; DNA/RNA and protein assays.
- Bachelors and Masters; any industry is a plus specific to pharma and biotech.
