One of Spokane's largest and most reputable Automated Machinery Manufacturer seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team. Qualified candidates must have a Mechanical Engineering Degree along with at least 18 months of hands on design experience using 3D Cad programs (solid works preferred). The company designs and manufacturers precision automated machinery used in industrial applications. Experience with machine design, hydraulics, pneumatics , or sheetmetal formed parts would be preferred. The company has an excellent benefits (and robust profit sharing plan) along with a very collaborative work environment with around 40 degrees engineers working at the site.


POSITION SUMMARY

To design/develop/support material handling equipment and solutions for all standard products. Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in completing a sequence of related engineering tasks. Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Performs and completes all work in a professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Specification preparation, concept evaluation, project estimates, component evaluations, stress analysis, machine design, reliability testing and cost reduction.
  • Develop engineering models and/or drawings (using Company standards and tools) including Bills of Materials (BOM) in clear, complete, accurate manner compliant with appropriate Company standards.
  • Process engineering releases, change orders, change requests.
  • Develop test plans to validate equipment and/or component design. Perform tests, analyze results, and prepare test reports.
  • Provide production shop support as required. Tasks may include fit-up of components to verify/resolve interference issues or other engineering-related tasks.
  • Perform machine quality inspections prior to machine shipments. Generate documentation as needed to support quality compliance programs.



QUALIFICATIONS


Good communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work as part of a team in a demanding production environment are essential. Must be willing and able to travel as needed.


EDUCATION

BSME degree or BSMET degree.


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS


*3D Cad modeling skills (solidworks preferred)

*Machine Design Experience strongly preferred

*ability to work on site Monday-Friday at the Spokane facility
