We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) in Spokane, Washington.
Job SummaryThe selected candidate will provide independent, timely, and professional mechanical engineering products, services, and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands.
Key Responsibilities- Design analyses and calculations for mechanical projects and prepare final detailed working drawings, comparative cost analysis, Request for Proposals (RFPs), and project specifications for a wide variety of facility types.
- Conduct site investigation field trips to project sites, as required, to collect pertinent data and refine or develop project scope by inspection of existing conditions and through meetings with sponsoring activity.
- Perform quality assurance reviews of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by private architectural and engineering (A/E) design firms, ensuring completeness, functionality, sound engineering practice, and compliance with DoD and NAVFAC criteria, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Provide technical administration of designs, design management, and coordination efforts with other engineers and architects involved in multidiscipline projects.
- Review and approve contractor's submittals to determine that they conform to the requirements of the contract drawings and specifications.
- Review and approve shop drawings, samples of materials and components, catalog information, certificates of compliance, Value Engineering Cost Proposals (VECPs), and provide technical responses to Requests for Information (RFIs).
