Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Hydro Mechanical Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design of large hydro generator and turbine components, with a primary focus on U.S. projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize hydro generator mechanical design for proposals, contracts, and studies;
  • Analyze mechanical components using in-house tools or develop calculations as necessary;
  • Document proposals, technical reports, and customer O&M manuals;
  • Review and approve mechanical drawings to ensure contractual and internal requirements are met;
  • Create engineering instructions defining technical requirements for manufacturing, installation, and testing;
  • Dispose of non-conformances during manufacturing and installation;
  • Review and analyze site data and testing;
  • Create and calibrate design tools;
  • Lead design reviews with technical subject matter experts;
  • Support manufacturing, workshop testing, installation, and commissioning of systems;
  • Participate in problem-solving and root cause identification;
  • Participate in planning engineering activities related to assigned projects and report progress to internal project teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Professional Engineer license preferred;
  • Five (5) years in refurbishment or design of hydroelectric turbines or in design and repair of large steel fabrications;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgment, initiative, and creativity;
  • Ability to work with people in a team environment;
  • Manufacturing experience (welding, machining, and/or casting) and site experience is a plus;
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously;
  • Solutions-focused while managing the needs of both internal and external customers;
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities;
  • CAD proficiency required (Siemens NX preferred);
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite and relevant IT tools;
  • 10-15% travel domestically and abroad as required.
