This role involves conducting safety inspections, training employees, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide safety training and education to employees on various topics, including hazard recognition, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency response procedures.
  • Maintain and update safety records, reports, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve safety performance and prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a safety specialist or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct effective safety training and presentations.
  • Certification in safety-related fields (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
