JOB SUMMARY:
- The Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT) plays a crucial role in healthcare by performing a variety of technical procedures in clinical laboratories. Responsibilities include evaluating specimen suitability, conducting tests following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instruments, and ensuring accurate reporting of test results. MLTs also contribute to quality patient care through meticulous attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and effective teamwork within the laboratory environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions following departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Make technical decisions regarding testing and troubleshoot problems as they arise.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls as required.
- Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Assist with specimen processing when needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
- Minimum 1-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
- Eligible candidates must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
DETAILS:
- Job Type: Contract to Hire
- Location: Portland, OR 97213
- Schedule: 11 PM to 7:30 AM
- Salary range: $25/hr. to $30/hr.
*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
