Summary

The Production Planner/Scheduler coordinates the planning of our glass supplier located in Mexico. This position collaborates with Sales, Customer Service, and Purchasing groups to strategically manage the production of glass container orders, ensuring timely fulfillment of customer needs.


Main Responsibilities

  • Lead weekly internal and external scheduling meetings with purchasing, planning teams, and suppliers to ensure orders are on track and proactively address any issues.
  • Collaborate with other planners for capacity balancing across our supplier network.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels, adjust safety stock levels as needed, and respond to unknowns to restore balance quickly and cost-effectively.
  • Set up demand with suppliers to allocate capacity 18 months out and follow up on order completion to ensure timely and full delivery.
  • Optimize production workflow, monitor daily exceptions, analyze data, and resolve routine issues using AccPac, inventory spreadsheets, and other planning tools.


Master Scheduling

  • Work within vendor capacity, production schedules, minimum order quantities, and varying lead times to ensure timely orders, maintain essential stock, and minimize carrying and conversion costs.
  • Maintain a detailed 90+ day production schedule for each factory.
  • Prepare yearly and rolling 12-month manufacturing forecasts, ensuring sufficient manufacturing capacity to cover existing business and new opportunities.
  • Mitigate service shortfalls by prioritizing critical orders and having alternate production plans ready.
  • Anticipate and react to production schedule changes, unexpected sales, logistics issues, quality problems, and other unforeseen circumstances to minimize impact.


Demand Planning/Sales & Operations Planning

  • Develop and implement a future-state S&OP process in alignment with our company practices.
  • Solicit yearly and periodic sales forecasts from the sales team and secure signed orders for forecasted needs.
  • Ensure data alignment and successful integration between vendor production schedules, Accpac, and inventory tools.
  • Develop and implement tools to communicate key activities to functional partners, including forecast accuracy, current inventory levels, future purchases, shipments, and trends.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • Bachelor's degree required; Engineering or Economics majors preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
  • Intermediate understanding of databases, information systems, and report writing
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Knowledge and experience with MRP and/or ERP systems ideal
  • APICS/ISM certification a plus
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, Master Scheduling, Capacity Planning, Detailed Scheduling, Demand Planning, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) is helpful
