SUMMARY
This position involves the responsibilities outlined below.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Operating various types of packaging machinery in the designated area, including the independent setup of all assigned equipment as directed by the supervisor or production schedule.
- Making necessary adjustments and corrections to the assigned machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Leading production personnel assigned to the specific equipment to guarantee efficient task completion.
- Conducting inspections of all products to verify compliance with packaging specifications.
- Completing all required documentation, including start-up checklists, weight logs, and inventory transfers.
- Executing changeovers on different packaging machines as instructed by the supervisor or production planner.
- Utilizing and comprehending written production schedules and manuals, which may be in English.
- Performing basic preventative maintenance on the assigned machinery, which may involve consulting written manuals in English.
- Calculating, compiling, and reporting production metrics as directed by the packaging supervisor.
- Engaging in all tasks within the packaging department, including packing cases, palletizing, mixing, and feeding products into packaging machines, marking cases, inspecting products, and assembling cartons.
- Safely operating manual or powered pallet jacks and specialized equipment, including forklifts, with a minimum of 6-12 months driving experience required.
Each position carries the responsibility of maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. Employees may be assigned additional duties as needed. Regular, predictable, full-time attendance is essential for this role. Wages, hours, and working conditions are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with three to five years of relevant work experience or nine months of structured on-the-job training. Educational equivalency is acceptable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Proficiency in writing routine reports and correspondence, as well as effective communication with groups of employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret rates, ratios, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions in various formats and to address problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical requirements for this role include regular standing and walking, frequent use of hands for handling objects and controls, and occasional stooping or kneeling. The ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds regularly is necessary, with assistance required for lifting over 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees will regularly work near moving mechanical parts, with a moderate noise level in the work environment.
