The Chemical Plant Facility General Manager for our Phoenix, AZ facility will be responsible for overseeing all logistics operations, ensuring the efficient movement and storage of raw materials, finished products, and supplies. This role involves managing logistics personnel, optimizing supply chain processes, maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and ensuring that all logistical activities support the overall operational goals of the chemical plant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and support production goals. Align logistics operations with the overall business objectives of the chemical plant. Logistics Operations Management: Oversee the inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution of raw materials and finished goods. Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products. Team Leadership & Development: Manage and lead a team of logistics professionals, including warehouse managers, transportation coordinators, and supply chain analysts. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Vendor & Supplier Management: Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with logistics service providers, suppliers, and vendors. Monitor performance to ensure adherence to service-level agreements. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all logistics activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, especially those related to chemical handling, transportation, and environmental safety. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations. Budget Management: Develop and manage the logistics budget, controlling costs while ensuring high-quality service. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives. Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve logistics processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize errors. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management: Ensure all logistics activities comply with HSE standards. Promote a safety-first culture and ensure all employees are trained on proper handling of chemicals and hazardous materials. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, procurement, sales, and customer service teams to ensure seamless coordination and communication across departments. Support the plant’s production schedules and customer delivery requirements. Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the logistics operations and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure contingency plans are in place to handle supply chain disruptions. Reporting & Analytics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics and supply chain operations. Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on performance, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or operations within a chemical plant or similar manufacturing environment. At least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP systems) and strong analytical skills. Knowledge of chemical handling regulations and safety standards is essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Ability to make informed decisions quickly and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Logistics Professional (CLP), or similar are advantageous.

  • 7+ years industry experience preferred;
  • 6+years of plant operations experience;
  • 3+ years of management experience;
  • Working knowledge of environmental statutes and regulations;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Able to make real-time decisions
