Our client, a top-tier provider of cutting-edge packaging machinery solutions, is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to join their dynamic team in New Jersey’s thriving packaging sector. This role is pivotal in designing, programming, and testing electrical control systems that will revolutionize packaging machinery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Scope Review: Analyze customer scope documents to determine control needs and wiring specifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales and estimating teams to define design requirements and conduct cost analysis.
  • Schematic Design: Create electrical schematic designs and establish schematic standards.
  • Panel Layouts: Design panel layouts that meet CE and UL electrical requirements.
  • PLC Programming: Program PLCs (Allen Bradley Micro, Compact Logix, Siemens S7) and HMIs, including motion and servo control.
  • Motor Control: Implement motor control using VFDs and fieldbus communications.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor programmers and wiring technicians.
  • Troubleshooting: Address and resolve issues with wiring, PLC code, and machine functionality.
  • Installation and Training: Oversee installation and commissioning, and provide technical training.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in controls application, preferably in machinery manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD electrical design software.
  • Strong PLC programming skills, especially with Allen-Bradley software (Siemens experience is a plus).
  • Experience with machine control systems, HMI design principles, and networking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
