How the Senior Estimator Supports the Team

An Estimator plays a crucial role in high-end commercial projects by preparing detailed estimates from bid to handoff, ensuring precision and accuracy in project planning. The ideal candidate excels in independent work, meeting deadlines, and fostering teamwork.


What you will do as the Senior Estimator

  • Must be able to assign fabrication, finish, and installation time to each piece of millwork without the assistance of pre-determined formulas or times.
  • Bidding projects ranging in size from $2,000 - $3M+.
  • Review assigned project invitations and gather all information needed to complete a proposal.
  • Clearly communicate with customers in a timely manner (via phone and/or email) to understand project requirements, goals, and post bid questions.
  • Understands the current market and works to put together winning, profitable proposals.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing Team to pursue and earn projects bid.
  • Once awarded, set up projects for a detailed and successful hand-off to Project Management and Engineering.
  • Understand standard building construction methods to include AWI guidelines, LEEDS, and FSC requirements.
  • Manage multiple tasks in a deadline orientated environment.
  • Possesses excellent communication, mathematics, and grammar skills.


What will make you successful as the Senior Estimator

  • 10+ years of experience in millwork estimating
  • Experience in any other construction and building industry is not an acceptable substitution.
  • Ability to create a takeoff from scratch.
  • Must be able to breakdown millwork into each piece and component and price without the aid of pre-existing formulas.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Ability to read architectural blueprints and shop drawings identifying all millwork items.
  • Strong understanding of millwork construction methods; demonstrate continuous education to keep up with changing needs.
  • Experience using BlueBeam preferred.


Compensation Package

  • This is a salary position with a range of $65,000 to $80,000 per year depending on experience.
