Required Skills and Experience *
- PhD in synthetic biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, cell biology, or related field with 3+ years of genome engineering experience in a mammalian biology context in academia or industry, or MA/MS with 6+ years
- Strong Crispr Cas9 experience and Genome Engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture of both adherent and suspension cell lines
- Experience with cell engineering and stable cell line generation
- Ability to work on gene knockout for these 10 genes, design, order the RNA, and come up with the idea that they can sufficiently troubleshoot/come up with more efficient process moving forward.
- Ability to make the existing SOP better and more efficient.
Nice to Have Skills and Experience
- Experience performing viral transductions, flow cytometry, western blotting and quantitative gene expression analyses
- Familiarity with liquid handling automation systems for mammalian cell culture
- Familiarity with Benchling for documentation and data management
Job Description *
An employer is looking for a Scientist, Cell Engineering to join the team. The goal is to enable pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to bring more cell and gene therapies to patients, by dramatically increasing the efficiency of viral vector production and reducing the cost of manufacturing. Our rapidly growing and cross-disciplinary team consists of creative bioengineers and synthetic biologists working alongside data scientists to create cutting-edge solutions to problems in gene therapy.
- Conduct cell line development activities including cloning, characterization, and cell banking.
- Engineer and validate cell lines using tools such as CRISPR, lentivirus, recombinases, and other methods.
- Maintain and optimize mammalian cell culture processes with adherent and suspension systems.
- Contribute to the writing and maintenance of SOPs.
- Document experimental procedures and results for internal and external use.
- Analyze data, interpret results, and present findings to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Operations and other teams to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
