Development Director

The Development Director is responsible for directing the fundraising activities for Mid-South Immigration Advocates. They will develop and implement fundraising strategies and forecast fundraising estimates for the organization.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Planning, organizing and implementing the organization’s annual event
- Developing and implementing effective fundraising strategy
- Identifying potential fundraising channels and effectively communicating the benefits of the organization’s services and fundraising opportunities available to meet the financial needs of the organization
- Maintaining an ongoing communications mechanism with internal personnel to provide information and stories that preserve client confidentiality
- Generating and developing new fundraising opportunities
- Expanding existing lists of regular and potential contributors to the organization
- Calling on prospective donors, providing information, and answering questions regarding the organization
- Preparing paperwork for donors
- Maintaining fundraising documentation
- Regularly communicating with contracted accountants for smooth fundraising operations
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, update and create content for website and social media
- Performing other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit or related field preferred
- Experience in developing and recruiting for nonprofit organizations
- Knowledge of nonprofit donation recruitment techniques
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with donors
- Flexible, creative, and able to work in a non-structured developing work environment
- Demonstrated capacity to think “outside the box”, communicate and motivate donors on the organization’s programs and new ideas
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with donor management systems
- Excellent oral/written communication skills, including well-developed presentation skills
- Excellent customer relationship skills
