Position Details:
  • Title: Special Education Teacher
  • Location: Farmingham, MA

  • Working Hours: 35 hours weekly, from Monday to Friday

  • Case Load: 8 kids
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student
  • Design and deliver differentiated instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities
  • Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and resources to support student learning and growth
  • Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, needs, and progress
  • Regularly monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and adjust instruction as needed
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to parents and guardians
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support a safe and productive learning environment
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to provide coordinated and comprehensive support for students
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related meetings to discuss student progress and needs
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and colleagues
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies
  • Participate in school-wide training and development opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to special education
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of student progress, IEP implementation, and any required reporting
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Special Education
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional strategies for students with disabilities
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently
