The Learning Center for the Deaf Inc. is seeking a dedicated Secondary Functional Academics Educator to provide specialized instruction for students with moderate to severe disabilities alongside deafness. This full-time, exempt position offers a competitive salary and a range of benefits.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver tailored classroom instruction to students with various disabilities, including learning disabilities, speech or language impairments, and autism spectrum disorder.
- Utilize both formative and summative assessments to inform and enhance classroom instruction.
- Design engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students and align with their Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to develop and implement interdisciplinary curricula.
- Write and oversee the execution of annual IEP goals for each student.
- Implement behavior management plans as required for individual students.
- Preferred Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related discipline.
- Certification in Deaf Education or Special Education is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant content area.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language is mandatory.
- Competency in written English is required.
- Eligibility for licensure by Massachusetts DESE as a Teacher of the Deaf or a Teacher of Moderate or Severe Disabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an educational team environment.
