POSITION SUMMARY:

Teachers of the Deaf in our Public School Partnerships (PSP) program focus on the specific requirements of students with hearing impairments and assistive hearing technologies within mainstream educational settings. They are responsible for establishing support systems to monitor both academic and developmental progress in these integrated environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel to various public schools to offer academic assistance to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Develop tailored academic recommendations based on thorough classroom observations and student assessments.
  • Conduct training sessions for school staff to enhance their understanding of how hearing loss affects educational access.
  • Provide expertise in curriculum adaptation and support through spoken English.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience in a deaf education environment, along with MA Teacher Certification in Deaf Education, Special Education, or Teacher of Speech and Hearing Impaired.
  • Other relevant certifications may be considered based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred; a willingness to learn is required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding company and client information.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Capable of working both collaboratively and independently.
