Provides leadership and oversight to the Product Compliance & Nutrition team. Oversees team efforts to work with QA Specialists, product developers, buying teams, and vendors to ensure product compliance with WFM quality and relevant USDA, GMO, organic, food safety and other standards. Ensures effective communication between all relevant stakeholders about compliance specifications; nutrition, health and wellness trends; issues and steps for resolution of compliance and other concerns. Communicates with company leadership about patterns, trends and challenges. Ensures WFM remains at the leading edge of industry and consumer expectations.****

**Description:**
Provides leadership and oversight to the Product Compliance team. Oversees team efforts to work with Quality Assurance Specialists, and suppliers to ensure product and location compliance with Whole Foods Markets Food Safety and Quality Standards. Ensures effective communication between all relevant stakeholders about compliance issues and steps for remediation of compliance and other concerns. Communicates with company leadership about patterns, trends, and challenges. Ensures Whole Foods Market remains at the leading edge of industry and consumer expectations.
**Major Job Responsibilities:**
Manage the teams daily responsibilities and help set priorities and allocate work assignments.
Mentor and support compliance team members to achieve their full potential and advance team objectives.
Handle Team Member Services activities for team including hiring, goal setting and performance reviews.
Develops clear and strategically focused plans to achieve defined business objectives, ensuring own areas priorities align with and support the broader organizations mission, values, and strategies.
Remains current with industry identifying best practices and ensuring their adaptation with Whole Foods Market.
Positively impacts performance by providing helpful and actionable feedback through formal and informal channels.
Pursues and attracts talented and diverse candidates, making or recommending place placement and reward decisions.
Facilitates change management within the team to ensure team members can absorb the changing needs of the business and still meet the service level agreements for our suppliers and internal teams.
Provides advice and council on efforts to verify facility and supplier compliance across areas such as animal welfare, sustainability, organics, and food safety.
Serves as the primary point of contact for hearing and resolving complex, sensitive and difficult-to-solve vendor compliance issues.
Represents Product Compliance team on cross-functional leadership working groups.
**Must Haves (Knowledge and Skills):**
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience and 4-6 years relevant functional experience.
1-2 years leadership experience
Strong collaboration skills and ability to advocate convincingly with a diverse group of business and technical partners.
Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
Strong critical thinking skills.
Effective communication and analytical skills are essential.
Self-directed with excellent follow through.
Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for driving execution at a detail level.
Ability to document business processes for training procedures and work instructions.
Able to manage confidential information.
