Sanitation Team Leader

The Sanitation Team Leader plays a crucial role in supporting, executing, and upholding food safety and quality standards as mandated by SQF. This position ensures that product integrity and food safety are prioritized within the sanitation crew and across the facility.
The Sanitation Team Leader operates as a hands-on supervisor, directly overseeing, training, and ensuring adherence to cleaning protocols and reviewing sanitation records during their shifts. They are tasked with monitoring pest control documentation from external services, liaising with relevant department heads for corrective measures, and guaranteeing compliance with record-keeping related to pest management activities. The Sanitation Team Leader will address daily operational challenges and assess sanitation supplies, chemical usage, and disposal expenses to identify efficiencies and implement corrective strategies. Additionally, they will coordinate maintenance of plant painting concerning equipment and support structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance, training, and clear communication to sanitation team members to achieve daily objectives safely and efficiently.
- Review pest control documentation for compliance.
- Collaborate closely with various departments to maintain the required sanitation levels for effective food processing, including QA, Maintenance, USDA, Warehouse, and Manufacturing.
- Exercise utmost care in handling equipment electronics and motors during cleaning operations.
- Analyze daily operational labor, chemical, and disposal costs, taking corrective actions to identify root causes.
- Act as the primary resource for sanitation requirements during their respective shifts.
- Foster a safe working environment for all team members by enhancing safety awareness through training and feedback on safe working practices and cleanliness.
- Maintain accurate records, including the master cleaning schedule and other regulatory or plant sanitary programs.
- Perform additional related duties and special assignments as directed by management.
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment or a related field.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in food/high-speed manufacturing.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and Outlook.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in team interaction with members, customers, and vendors in a professional manner.
- Robust problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience in industrial (high-volume) food processing.
- Familiarity with USDA, OSHA standards, and general plant safety regulations.
- Knowledge of plant sanitary requirements and compliance with chemical usage.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred.
- Ability to navigate production areas and perform tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and crawling in confined spaces.
- Work in an office and factory setting, including refrigerated storage areas.
- Capable of pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy items (50 lbs or more) as needed.
- Willingness to work flexible hours based on operational requirements.
