Job Description

Position Summary:

As a Survey Manager, you will need to be highly skilled in utilizing survey programs like Civil 3D, Carlson, and Trimble Business Center, as well as automated machine control. Your main tasks will include training and overseeing field survey staff, managing survey data for multiple projects, implementing correct survey procedures, and ensuring accurate field reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all Safety policies and procedures to prioritize safety above all else.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to establish project survey control and field reporting.
  • Utilize Trimble survey equipment and software including GPS, Robotic Total Stations, and manage Machine Control equipment.
  • Handle data import/export to/from field instruments and maintain 3D terrain models for projects.
  • Coordinate with project Field Supervisors for surveying activities and construction layout.
  • Oversee calibration, maintenance, and security of survey equipment.
  • Schedule and train survey crews, ensure quality control, and job site safety.
  • Perform calculations for survey control and prepare final project records.
  • Coordinate and monitor survey subcontractors.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about project status.
  • Research and gather necessary information for project completion.
  • Use software for contouring, setting alignments, and construction staking.
  • Review and troubleshoot incoming data files.
  • Conduct independent checks on survey layout.
  • Represent the firm professionally in all communications.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive construction project layout experience and 5 years in survey management.
  • Preferably licensed in a relevant field and holding a degree in related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of surveying principles, modern equipment, and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
