Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:

  • Accurately process payroll for all employees, including calculating wages, deductions, bonuses, and overtime.
  • Prepare and issue paychecks or direct deposit statements.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in a timely manner according to the payroll schedule.

Record Maintenance:

  • Maintain payroll records and ensure all employee information is current and accurate.
  • Update employee payroll data as necessary, including changes in tax status, benefits deductions, and direct deposit details.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

Deductions and Benefits:

  • Calculate and process employee benefits, garnishments, and other deductions.
  • Coordinate with HR and benefits providers to ensure accurate and timely processing of benefit changes.

Reporting:

  • Generate payroll reports and summaries for management and finance.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and payments.
  • Assist in the preparation of endofyear reports, including W2s and 1099s.

Problem-Solving and Support:

  • Address and resolve payrollrelated inquiries and issues from employees.
  • Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors.

System Management:

  • Maintain and update payroll systems and software.
  • Implement new payroll software or updates as needed.

  • Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role.
  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and MS Office, particularly Excel.

Skills:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and timemanagement abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

This job operates in a retail business environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items that weigh more than 30 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a part time, temporary role. Occasional Nights, Evenings, Weekend and Holiday may be required as business needs demand.
