Compensation: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

The Role:

As a Peer Outreach Specialist much of your time will be spent in the field assisting patients as they start recovery, representing Ideal Option at community meetings, attending events, conducting outreach, and building awareness. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Develop relationships with existing and potential community partners, referring providers, potential patients, and other stakeholders with direct outreach, field marketing, attendance at community events, meetings, workshops.
  • Work at various partner sites throughout the area each week to raise awareness for Ideal Option's services and guide staff members and patients through virtual intake and provider visits.
  • Provide education and training to community-based organizations and providers about Ideal Option, medication-assisted treatment, and substance use disorder to broaden acceptance of addiction as a chronic disease and continue to reduce stigma and misconceptions about the disease.

Our ideal candidate:

Will have lived experience with substance use disorder and medication-assisted treatment and will feel confident educating others and assisting those who are just beginning their recovery process.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certified peer counselor preferred.
  • Must have own transportation
  • Must be extremely reliable and punctual when attending meetings, events, and staffing our onsite services.
  • Must be extremely responsive and comfortable using online communication and collaboration tools.
  • Must be comfortable working both in the field and at a home-based office and have a flexible schedule to allow for occasional after-hours events or travel.
  • Work experience in the social service field and or in the area of substance use disorder treatment is preferred.
  • Lived past experience with substance use disorder and recovery (self or loved one) is preferred but not required.
