It is the role of the Bank President to create and maintain a powerful team, aligned with Stellar goals, whose personal concerns are being fulfilled, while working to achieve extraordinary results. Bank Presidents operate within a list of Principles that are created and maintained by all Bank Presidents.

Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations such as Reg O, Reg Z, and Reg Q as applicable to state and federal banking regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Effectively oversees assigned bank office.
  2. Responsible for the bank's organic growth and has the capacity to generate extraordinary results. Bank Presidents have the ability to "carry the team" not only in the normal course of business but also in the event of a change in team members (due to promotion, retirement, leaving bank, etc.).
  3. Committed to excellence in all areas of the bank, including performance, asset quality, staffing, internal and external customer service, and project management, and will hold each other to account when excellence in these areas is absent.
  4. Consider the impact on the greater bank when making decisions for their own office, in all areas, including income, expenses, loan and deposit gathering, staffing, and customer service.
  5. Recruit and retain staff to create a powerful team aligned with the culture of the bank.
  6. Support the personal growth and development of team members within the context of contribution to the entire bank, not just the local bank office.
  7. Serve as the face of the Bank and represent the bank, in all settings (public and private), in a professional manner during both business and non-business hours. Bank Presidents continually promote awareness of Stellar Bank, as appropriate, given the setting.
  8. Minimum loan portfolio size for office in excess of $50 million.
  9. Maintain asset quality within benchmarks as outlined in the Elite Contributor Program.
  10. Proven ability to generate and grow depository accounts.
  11. Active community involvement demonstrating leadership outside of the bank.
  12. Project and/or committee involvement demonstrating leadership within the bank.
SECONDARY DUTIES

The position performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned by management. Duties may include:

• Serve on Bank Board Committees.

• Serve on Loan Committee.

• Serve as a Project Owner or Project Manager.

• Serve on a Project Team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position is responsible for the supervision of all office employees and is expected to provide leadership, training and support to staff members.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The incumbent is in a non-confined office setting in which they are free to move about at will. In the course of performing the duties and responsibilities of this position spends time writing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), sitting, typing on a computer keyboard, and standing, kneeling and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any of all of the following: telephone, copy and fax machine, adding machine, computer and related printers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

These specifications are guidelines based on the minimum experience required to perform the essential functions of the job. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines:

• Minimum 10 years commercial banking experience.

• 3 years or more experience in bank leadership.

• Proven ability to work with all departments of the bank (Loan Operations, Deposit Operations, Treasury Management, etc.) in a courteous and productive manner.

• Clear understanding and respect of the central department/local office relationship whereby the local offices are empowered to provide a high level of customer service while being supported by the central departments with the infrastructure, policies, and procedures necessary to provide such service.

• Mastered experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.

• Mastered experience, knowledge and training in all lending activities and terminology.

• Mastered knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer loan processing.

• Mastered knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.

• Ability to develop marketing and business development skills with customers.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to provide leadership, supervision, and training.

• Intermediate skills in computer operation; and spreadsheet software programs.

• Advanced math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.

• Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, read, analyze and interpret documents and professional journals, understand procedures, write reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.

• Thorough understanding of management procedures; ability to plan department or Bank activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, and developing policies and procedures); initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish department or Bank activities; effectively staff (selecting, training and developing employees); directing employees towards the desired objectives (delegating, motivating, resolving problems); controlling the function (developing performance standards, measuring results, taking corrective action and rewarding employees as appropriate).

• Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
