Job Summary:
The Employee Relations Associate is responsible for the company's employee relations function.

The associate oversees and responds to complex and sensitive employment and employee relations issues; manages employee litigation/claims; consults with managers and employees on Camden's policies and procedures; and works with internal customers to develop appropriate courses of action in employee matters.

Functions with a high level of independence and makes decisions based upon policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides expert level human resource services to all employees in the area of employee relations, including:
  • Creating, interpreting and maintaining compliance with HR policies and procedures
  • Securing corporate-wide compliance with employment laws and regulations
  • Conducting discrimination and other employment-related investigations
  • Responding to agency employment-related charges/complaints
  • Managing/resolving employment-related litigation
  • Working with managers to address employee performance; and resolving employee concerns
  • Serves as a contact for Camden's Accounting and Auditing Ethics and HR Hotlines.
  • Investigates Hotline complaints, works with other departments to resolve complaints, and reports investigation results to designated company officers.
  • Review and respond to exit interviews.
  • Remains current with laws, regulations, trends and best practices in employee relations and fair employment practices.
  • Appropriately manages highly confidential matters. Continually evaluates and improves employee relations services delivered to the company.
  • Manage Camden's unemployment claims process, including submitting responses and participating as Camden's representative in unemployment hearings.
  • Respond to subpoenas
  • Participates in company projects as requested.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required; J.D. is required
* - 5 years' experience in employee/labor relations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

  • Job is intermittently sedentary but requires mobility (i.e., climb stairs)
  • Will use some repetitive motion of hand-wrist in using computer and writing
  • Must handle stressful, urgent, novel and diverse work situations on a daily basis

  • Works in a typical office setting
  • Hazards can be avoided with proper lifting techniques, SDS and general safety training
