Role and Responsibilities:
Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction related to business growth and work winning in MISO and ERCOT.
  • Collaborate with other leaders in the firm to build a network to support business growth
  • Establish a team and this includes hiring and contributing to growth strategies in this space.
  • Strong team leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Manages and develop a wider team that reports directly and indirectly into this role.
  • Being able to articulate a vision both internally and externally in line with Arup purpose.
  • Able to deal and resolve sophisticated problems and situations.
Business Development

  • Lead the business development activities of the Power Systems function with special focus on MISO and ERCOT. Additional support for NYISO, ISO-NE and PJM is also a plus.
  • Lead proposal preparation and procure work. Preparing Arup submission material including scope, schedule fees and terms and conditions,
  • Be responsible and accountable for client relations (internal and/or external)
  • Ensure Arup contends effectively through a detailed understanding of external market conditions (method of procurement, fees, scope of service, conditions, and competitor benchmarks).
  • Connect with existing and new clients and maintain strategic contacts and representing Arup's overall capability.
Technical

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) compliance requirements and/or ISOs' interconnection or transmission planning guidelines.
  • Specific knowledge of the ERCOT and MISO transmission system including planning guidelines, market footprint, transmission development and future ISO plans.
  • Ability to supervise the execution of load flow and steady state studies, evaluation of transfer capability and security limits and shortcircuit/fault studies, transient stability studies, as well as specialized studies such as harmonic distortions and electromagnetic transient studies.
  • Solid quality check capability of models and results to maintain the highest level of quality services.
  • Produce and/or review quality technical reports and presentations for both internal and external clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; an advanced degree or equivalent experience (Master's or PhD) is highly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of handson experience in delivering power system studies using PSS/E or PSLF and/or PSCAD/EMTDC and/or PowerGEM TARA.
  • At least 5 years of specific experience delivering studies work in MISO and/or ERCOT
  • At least 2 years in team and business leadership.
  • PE license is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of engineers, other technical and support staff.
  • Excellent business development with outstanding team leadership and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated strong commercial competence and financial skills.
  • Sound industry networks among potential client market and a significant reputation in a relevant area of expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills crucial for teambased working.
  • Effective presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, as needed, to achieve agreed goals and results.
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
